Welcome to St Peter's Parkstone Parish Choir!
St Peter's Parkstone Church Choir is a dedicated, friendly and hardworking choir singing to a high standard. We cater for all levels of musical ability aged 7 upwards and are fortunate to have our home in St Peter's Church Parkstone, which has one of the best vocal acoustics in Dorset.
A typical weekend will involve choir practice on a Friday evening and two services on a Sunday, usually Morning Eucharist at 10am and Choral Evensong at 6.30pm.
Choir practice always has a friendly atmosphere and often follows on from the St Peter's youth discussion group that includes much doughnut eating!
All junior choristers are paid on a sliding scale depending on which RSCM medal they have achieved and how many services they attend. This applies right from the first level of probationary status to the position of Head Chorister. There are various opportunities to gain medals and choristers are encouraged to work towards these in order to improve their musical abilities.
During the summer months, there are often weddings that involve the choir. Apart from being opportunities for the junior choristers to earn extra, they are also wonderful moments of joy for the choir to be part of.
New choristers are often taken on and we have a probationary period of 4 weeks before a chorister can gain his/her white surplus. We are always looking to welcome new members. If you are interested, please contact us via the church office on 01202 749085 or email us from our online website form.
St Peter's Church congregation are extremely supportive of their choir and will always extend a very warm welcome to anyone who joins.
