CIRCLE DANCING

The circle is symbol of wholeness and unity, and dancing in a circle is  one of the most  ancient ways in which people celebrate community and togetherness.

In 1976 Bernhard Wosien the German Ballet Teacher and choreographer introduced to Findhorn, the spiritual community in Scotland, his ‘Dance Meditation’ as well as  traditional European folk dances. This way of dancing is now known as circle dancing, and continues to draw on traditional dances, but there are also modern choreographies to all kinds of music.

The dances are a form of moving meditation which can create a feeling of well-being and communion with others, and invite a sense of wholeness or sacredness into  our lives  through the dance.

God is an infinite circle whose centre is everywhere  and whose circumference is nowhere.

St Augustine
