We are super excited to welcome Butler Blake & Grant to 'In The Nave' at St Peter's on Sunday April 26th.
Butler, Blake & Grant is a rare supergroup forged from three of Britain’s most revered songwriters and musicians: Bernard Butler (the visionary guitarist behind Suede’s golden era), Norman Blake (the heartfelt voice and driving force of Teenage Fanclub), and James Grant (the soulful frontman of Love and Money). What began as a low-key one-off gig at a rural Scottish hotel quickly blossomed into a genuine musical kinship, with the trio discovering an effortless chemistry that spans five decades of songcraft. Their combined catalogue reads like a who’s-who of indie, folk-rock and heartfelt pop history, yet together they create something fresh and intimate that feels like a private conversation between old friends.
Blending rich acoustic textures, luminous harmonies and re-imagined gems from each member’s storied past alongside brand-new material, Butler, Blake & Grant deliver a sound that has been described as “sunshine on a rainy day”, gentle yet stirring, folk-tinged yet warmly accessible. Their debut album and follow-up Murmurs (just released) showcase beautifully crafted songs that breathe in small rooms, where every picked guitar note and layered vocal feels personal and alive. Expect a set that moves seamlessly between classics, deep cuts and fresh offerings, all delivered with the kind of restraint that only gifted musicians possess.
This upcoming intimate show for Warm in the nave is your chance to experience the magic up close in an amazing setting before the trio’s well earned rapport fills larger stages. In a stripped-back church, the harmonies soar, the stories unfold and the connection between band and audience becomes electric. With limited capacity and the tour already building buzz, tickets are vanishing fast – secure yours now for an evening of timeless songwriting.
Joining them will be the fabulous Katie Gregson-MacLeod who rose to fame in 2022 after her raw, introspective breakup song "Complex" went viral on TikTok. Known for her confessional, folk-pop songwriting, she signed with a major label, released the EP Big Red, and earned an Ivor Novello nomination for Best Song Musically and Lyrically.
