We’re thrilled to announce that Saint Etienne, one of the UK’s most loved and treasured pop groups, will be performing at “In The Nave” at St Peter’s Church on Thursday, September 10th as part of their final ever UK/Ireland tour.
Formed in Croydon in 1990 by Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs, Saint Etienne achieved massive success with their debut single “Only Love Can Break Your Heart”, a cover of Neil Young’s song that quickly became a club favourite. Soon after, lead singer Sarah Cracknell joined the band, debuting on their 1991 single “Nothing Can Stop Us” and their Mercury Music Prize-nominated debut album “Fox Base Alpha”.
Their second album, “So Tough”, reached number 7 in the charts and was followed by extensive UK touring. In 1994, Saint Etienne made history as the first band to be televised live from Glastonbury Festival. Subsequent tours took them across Europe, the US, Japan and Australia.
Their latest album, “International”, their 13th release, was critically acclaimed and returned them to the UK top ten.
Tickets will sell quickly, so don’t miss this incredible opportunity to see the fabulous Saint Etienne one final time on tour in the South West!
